I'm developing an ASP.Net Core Web Application that has several secret values (account/password, etc...) that I need to secure. I've researched using the Secret Manager, however this seems to require using Azure Key Vault for test/production environments which is not an option for me.
What is the best practice way of handling secrets in an on premise .Net Core MVC web application? Can the Secret Manager be used? If so, what am I missing?
